Spring 2003 European Archaeology Placements To:

Czech Rep, Slovakia, Ireland

Grampus Heritage and Training are offering a number of practical archaeology placements throughout 2002/2003. These placements are funded through the 'Excavation Centred Training in European Archaeology' (ECTEA) Leonardo project.

To fill these placements we are looking for highly motivated individuals who are keen to work towards the aims of the excavations while gaining valuable experience of practical archaeology. These are practical placements and rarely involve classroom learning. Participants are expected to work alongside the archaeology teams on the site and to be present on the site during all working hours. Placements will involve a lot of digging! Participants will usually have weekends and evenings free to go on cultural visits or to relax, although a flexible attitude to working hours is essential.

Previous experience is not essential but applicants must be able to demonstrate that the experience will be of value to them in the future.

The Leonardo da Vinci ECTEA II programme will cover the following costs for the successful applicants:

Travel - Return travel from the UK (departure point designated by Grampus) to destination country.
Food - Each participant will be provided with food (3 meals per day) or a sufficient self-catering allowance.
Accommodation - This will be basic accommodation and will be chosen by host partners. Accommodation will be as close as possible to the excavation site.

You can apply NOW for the Spring placements!
